The FDA and other anti-smoking organizations are not accepting the evidence presented regarding the safety of the product though. There are corporate politics that might be playing a role in all of this.

Drug companies that make products designed to help smokers quite might also be impacted. State governments would stand to take a hit on tax revenues that highly lucrative tobacco industry generates as well.
